Supporting the local community

Since it's formation over 20 years ago, Deveron District Age Concern has been there to support and help the local community. We are a registered charity (SC007671) for the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.

We provide an important wide range of initial senior citizen information, signposting and support services, local community grants and donations. We also work with Banffshire Partnership and Boyndie Trust to provide a weekly Lunch Club.

More about us..

Visit our shop

Our shop is located on Shore Street, Macduff where we offer an advisory service, very much needed in this area, on a drop-in or appointment basis. All donations are gratefully received and all income from the sale of goods after expenses goes back into the local community as grants and donations to deserving causes.

Whether you come to access our services, make a donation or to browse our quality goods on sale, you will always be made welcome by our friendly and dedicated volunteers.

Lunch Club

We are pleased to announce that Banffshire Partnership, Deveron District Age Concern and Boyndie Trust are working together to run a weekly Lunch Club. Although principally aimed at Deveron District Age Concern clients, anyone who feels they would benefit from membership is welcome to apply to join.

The Lunch Club is held at Boyndie Visitor Centre and costs £5.00 for a two course lunch with Tea or Coffee. Banffshire Partnership's buses (which are wheelchair-accessible) run in four local areas, free of charge.

Small Grants Fund

We are always happy to consider with our Small Grants Fund, opportunities under our charitable status, whether it be maintenance of village halls, Christmas entertainment in local Sheltered Housing Communities or Talking Newspapers for the blind.

We visit local community groups to "spread the word" of our organisation on an increasing basis and to review recipients for our Small Grants Fund. Deveron District Age Concern awards grants of up to £1,000 per application, for the relief of local organisations or groups in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.

Volunteering Opportunities

We have over twenty dedicated volunteers that work in our shop processing donations and selling our wide variety of goods. Our volunteers are very important for our fund raising, usually working a morning or afternoon rota each week.

If you have a few spare hours each week why not consider becoming a volunteer? It is a great way to meet new friends in a fun and relaxing environment and you will be helping us to achieve our goal in providing continued support within the local community.
