Who We Are & What We Do

Deveron District Age Concern dates back to the early 1990's when Jo Maley opened an office and shop in the former Chalmers Bakery in Duff Street, Macduff. Operations then moved to 26 Shore Street, formerly Aberdeen Savings Bank, and then to existing premises at 34 Shore Street, vacated by a bookmaker.

Since our formation over 30 years ago, we have been there to support and help the local community. We are a registered charity (SC007671) for the relief of those in need by reason of Age, Ill health, Disability, Financial hardship or other disadvantage. Our services are financed from donated goods sold in our shop to provide grants for deserving causes and senior citizen signposting and information services. We are an independent charity for the Deveron locality.

We work with and provide support for other local community groups such as Banffshire Partnership and Boyndie Trust to run a weekly Lunch Club, Chalmers Hospital to provide Discharge Packs to patients returning home after a long stay in hospital and local Sheltered Housing to provide afternoon teas and christmas gift bags for residents.

Deveron District Age Concern is managed by a voluntary committee assisted by over twenty dedicated volunteers who work in our shop processing donations and selling a wide range of goods to a new home.
